Benefit Show For Tropical Storm Alex Victims Set For July 17

July 09, 2010

By By Ayala Ben-Yehuda

Adal Ramones, Bobby Pulido, Dulce Mar?a, Los Claxons, Paty Cant? and at least a dozen other artists will perform at a July 17 concert in Monterrey, Mexico, to benefit victims of Tropical Storm Alex in the country's hard-hit Nuevo Leon state.

The concert at Arena Monterrey, "Unidos Somos Nuevo Leon," will be broadcast on local television and radio in Nuevo Leon and surrounding areas as well as on international channels such as Los Angeles' Spanish-language Channel 22 and cable networks Teleritmo and Mexicanal, which are distributed in the U.S.

Fans can pick up tickets in exchange for donations of bottled water and basic supplies at Red Cross and other charity offices in Nuevo Leon. Spots will run during the broadcast directing viewers to donate money to an account benefiting victims of Alex, which has damaged infrastructure and led to concerns over the spread of dengue fever and other diseases.
